Springslade revisited

Springslade lodge went well. The weather was kind and people came. Which was nice. The band debuted their new PA amp (which has not yet quite been paid for) and the sound was good.

The Toads are now intending to spend 2 months fine tuning their material and posting the occasional little offering on youtube. Jon is desperately trying to understand logic pro, and should he succeed, maybe a recording may surface. Who knows?

The Toads are to return to Cannock Chase for an alfresco Summer gig...

The Toads return to the tea rooms at Springslade Lodge, Cannock Chase for a gig in the great outdoors, with a nice BBQ (not cooked by the band) and optional camping.

Tickets for food are £10 per head to include steak, salmon, chicken or vegetarian option, jacket potatoes, 3 salads and bread rolls, tickets for entertainment are £3.50 for Adults and £1.50 for children. People are welcome to come and just pay for the entertainment. Special tickets for camping, food and entertainment are £17.50 per head but there are limited camping spaces so could you please confirm these as soon as possible.

Toads begin work on album...

The Toads are taking advantage of a break in live appearances to begin work on their long awaited studio album.

A profitable session in the “studio” resulted in song templates and bass lines for 8 tracks. Additional tracks are planned.

No date has been set for release, but it is optimistically hoped preview tracks will be available in early September. A single release is also possible...

Combermere gig success

The Toads went down a storm at the weekend Combermere fixture. A partisan crowd offered a reception of great warmth and enthusiasm for the Toad’s own material and their take on classic covers.

Even the precipitation dribbling down Graeme’s neck couldn’t dampen the atmosphere and a great time was had by all.

The Toads return to the Combermere later in the year on Saturday 7th November.

Toads get wet in a Dragonboat

Despite anxiously tracking the long, medium and finally short term weather forecasts, rain was unavoidable and although it held off long enough to put up the gazebos in relative dryness it then hit with a vengeance.

The RAF were otherwise disposed this year so other team of note rose to fill the void. B2, the beefiest, hairiest and most testosterone loaded bunch of ladies hairdressers around and Hawkes home improvers being of particular note.

The Toads paddled hard and with impressive rhythm but missed out on a place in the 4 berth main final by a few hundredths of a second and some dubious timing techniques. The minor final resulted in an overall position of 5th.

No tacky dragon this year, but a good day out. Now just have to dry the gazebos...
